Since installing my new modem about eh, a couple ofmonths ago (bad memory), I had to install its drivers too, I have two desktop icons that even after I delete them they keep appearing every after reboot of the machine. It is not the biggest problem in the world but it sure is annoying. The control panel of the drivers have no option about this so I don't know how to stop it. Any ideas?

hum, maybe you need to delete them in the "Administrator account" desktop folder too...

Have you tried just moving them into the recycle bin and leaving them there?

It wouldn't get rid of them but at least they would be kept from sight.

The names of the two icos are:
1) ADSL USB MODEM Control Panel
2) USB ADSL

Nothing relevant or unknown exists in the startup of the mscofig.

The start up and desktop folders of administrator and of visitor (my guest account) are empty.
The icons appear on the account that I use mostly and has administration powers.

I have tried putting them in the recycle bin without emptying it, nothing changes, the re appear.

Since they keep on re-appearing they are probably alive ! Stop deleting them. You are comiting an icon genocide !
They might take revenge on you. :ranting:
Believe me, pissed-off icons are not something you want to see. :karate: :guns:

Maybe you should modify the registry keys if you want to solve that problem...

You could use a program like "HijackThis" to see what programs (and icons) the registry make run at every boot...

Good luck k:
