Can anyone help me?

I have almost finished replaying this great game but am stuck because every time I try to type " @ " it comes out as " '@ " which means I cannot complete a necessary quest. Even though I have set up a hotkey on my keyboard to type " @ " with just one jeystroke, which works in Word, it still comes out as " '@ " in the Wizardry game!

Can someone either help me fix this bug or play my game for 1 minute to complete this one small quest to get Vi's device in New City?

Hi, dear Hosler,
Please to be excused i am not experienced in Your Wizardry Gold because i'm playing now Wizardry 6.
But i am pleased to know very good specialists concerning Wizardry saga, namely twillight, Kmonster, Scatty, Capo and Sacrete_Path.
You may find all of them around me in section Wizardry 6.
Of course they are busy persons but they have the friendly spirit of AB.
They helped me much in Wiz 6 and i hope they will help You.

Thanks for that yoga; for anyone who's interested, I have found a workaround. Using the CosmicForge editor, I created a new "loot" to include's Vi's Device which I set to drop 100% of the time on killing any moth. Worked first time, as it should - but neverthess to my surprise, so got the Special Item without actually being able to talk to the Computer in New City.

BTW it must be a bug in the program because I tried playing the same savegame on another computer with same problem. Email me on hosler odt.uk.com for anyone who's interested (or confused!)

Pls, would You be so kind inform me (if You know W 6 or W 7 or W 8): Is Wizardry Gold very difficult game? I like these Wizardry games.
Strange: I heard about this New City from You and from Sacred_path who plays Wiz 7. I know nothing about WG and W7&8. Still.
