i'm experienced with photoshop but not with GIMP so it's a first time effort for me:

The only thing I don't like so much is how you used that font... however I'm happy seeing one artist more using GIMP

Mmm, I don't know a thing about GIMP or other design programs, but I feel your sig is a good one. Besides, it is Cowboy Bebop, so it can't be bad...

i'm still getting used to it. and quint, i don't have many fonts at this moment (still some work left after the reformat) and i'm still going to be using photoshop as well, i'm going to try to use gimp alongside it

If you need fonts, you just have to go and download from "dafont.com"

i had another go at a CB sig in GIMP and this is the result:
 @fifth: it was using the "video" filter in GIMP (although i can do scanlines in photoshop as well) @quint: i know, i went there anyway and got a couple that fit the cowboy bebop them a bit better
