Thought you mihgt ask that - not yet, but I've not been trying; feeling lazy. Might make it a project for thursday (day off) - I'm gonna reinstall it; think I've got errors with Aptitude - it keeps saying it's going to install things but never does.

One of the reasons I chose Gentoo was because of the great documentation. I don't know if it''ll help you, but installing X should be the same no matter what distribution.
Just don't mind the emerge part. And if Debian uses Xfree swap that with Xorg...

*edit*

Or you could just install Ubuntu which is basically Debian *Unstable* but with an automated installer.

Oh yeah, Linux is just the basic system everybody can build his own package around it... That's what the whole Linux Open source is all about...

EDIT: btw.. I use SuSe, but that;s just because a friend of my bought a newer version and I got his old one.

I just rcently began to stick to Linux. I had no idea this could happen to me. I was TN to it before, but one day I decided to install it and see, what is it with my own eyes. And after that in my flat there are so many discs with Linuxes - I never imagined I could have any Linux's CD.

My acquaintance began from Ubuntu 5.10. I quickly adapt, so now I prefer debian based Linuxes. I'm writing this from Ubuntu Studio 7.04 and I'm going to install Ubuntu for Christians soon.

I couldn't install FreeBSD, but one my familiar told me it sucks.

BTW, what graphical environment do you prefer - GNOME or KDE? Me prefers first - I think KDE is more Windows like.

You could also take a look at CentOS.
Pretty good.
Tried it recently and runs swell.

All this Linux talk on the net makes me kind of interested to try it out. Xubuntu looks pretty good, would be the right one for my Dell Latitude D600 to maximize the CPU power for the games, while it's ascetic and clean looking.
I only hope there'll be enough compatibility under Xubuntu for all the games that I'm running so far under Windows XP... but if there will, I'll gladly kiss this chunk of Windows XP good-bye.

I'm Posting this from my Ubuntu / WinXPpro Dualbooting Desktop.
(As far as I've read, Ubuntu is the n00bs Linux. Easy to use & unlikely to srew up)

But since I haven't set up my WiFi in Ubuntu yet, I'm "forced" to use Windows for the online stuff. <_<
Then again, the most interesting about the Ubuntu on my machine are the pre-installed games on it.

Why should that be? I've also a Ubuntu 7.04 boot HD (I'm using a HD rack: 7 of them to use as primaries with all kinds of OS, pretty easy )
Ubuntu is a good product, steady as a rock.
Be glad that it installs easily, that the times that Linux was a complete pain in the ar*e to set up are over and done with.

Is there a specific reason you must go wireless? A router installs in 2 secs in Ubuntu. Plug in, setup adr&pass, done.

PS: check your PMs.
