![]() Thanks especially to the patch and hex contributers.
Got it downloaded and running in Xp patched to d3d in under an hour. mainly because whilst it downloaded i read all the threads here. You might need to use the search function in the hex editor to find the offset lines. Neither of the positions ( the group of 4 digits and letters) given in the threads matched the position of the offsets when I viewed the hex. I just copied the original code from the thread pasted it into the search function on the hex editor and pressed find till I got an exact match. When I found the right place;- Highlighted the box which needed changing using the mouse pointer. Opened the edit function in the hex editor. typed the new value into the box marked HEX left everything else alone and pressed OK. Then saved the file. Fired up first time. Great game owned it the first time round then "loaned' it to a friend. Can be a bit challenging on some levels if I remember rightly but with the save at least I don't have to replay an entire level for one mistake. Great choice Abondonia. |

![]() Heck, this game is an abandonware???
Doesn't that make some of the guys who bought the game feel like suckers? Just like how I feel? I bought it along with other games too... interstate 76, carmagedon... and two other games I never played... only tried to play and got bored very quickly. Makes me wonder why someone should buy games if they'll turn to be abandonwares some day... maybe cause he doesn't want to wait a few years, just like me. :wallbash: |

![]() It's like the music industry, after the first few years the sales become so insignificant that they might as well be zero. Hense abandoning. Sure, if it's a good one you may come out with a compliation a little while later, hense the ESA. But otherwise they're not going to suport it any more so it goes on the black list.
Now, as for us as a consumer, yes it seems a waste to spend money on a game only to get it for free years later, and maybe it is. But personally I don't mind paying for a new game so i can play it now instead of maybe finding it for free far enough down the road that it crosses from "warez" to "abandonware." |
