If you use the walkthrough of Sir Cabirus, then keep in mind the map has clickable zones, even where there are no numbers. These zones will provide additional hints. Also, when you read the map notation and it says I36 or some other number, all those Ixx are items and there is a link further down the page to an index of all Ixx's on the map.
All in all, I found that walkthrough to be very good. You have the must-do as well as the can-do listed.
