Sadly i have no good news.
A friend of mine presented me a complete pack of all 9 games of New World computing- I started huge installing process of MM6 and next.
Terrible problems but i do not want to soil this nice thread with my troubles.
I hope to install Might and Magic IX - installation started OK but disk 2 suddenly told me that it is damaged and all kaput. I am using Daemon Tools Lite, kindly DL from AB site now.
Simply in Image Catalog disk 2 shows -- I am out of order- Rats!
- 4 days already i try and try without results.
Achtung:
I do NOT cry or complain. Nein. I am an old fox and know that it is normal when one is on the road of games.


If i am unable to install a game from this NWC package i will back to SS1, but SS1 is ..
OK. My heart told me:

Probably You boys met similar problems with MM saga?
But this is our doom.
To save the world or space, to solve installation problem..

I even installed using Virtual Box the old Windows 98 under another virtual XP to start Dark side of Xeen.
The game started but when initial video shows a scene when small dragon (red colored) walking in big stone dragon, game freezed.
The irony of this fact is that before 4-5 years i played this game but now i forget how to install it correct.
Actually i want to enter again the Lava Zone and smash all Fire monsters or like.

So you installed virtual XP to emulate Windows XP to emulate Windows 98 to emulate DOS.
Each emulation process looses quality and stability so it's no surprise that you have trouble playing.

Why not emulate directly ?

DOSBox is a great program which runs MS-DOS and Might and Magic World of Xeen almost perfectly (even better than my old PC did). And while you're at it you might as well want to install Might and Magic 3 too, it's a great game which plays very similar to WoX.

I would like to ask is it normal to post and discuss the games of whole 9 games of New World Computing, namely M&M 1-9 here or have to create new threat in Gaming zone?
If No, let our dear Mod move/del/modify this post.
If Yes,
humble brave want to say that all he can do is to start...... no, no MM6 but MM9.

I think our dear mods and admins have all hands full fighting the darn endless hordes of the bots right now. Might be a good idea to make a new thread for discussing your progress about MM9 anyway.
Also I could link you to good, unofficial, patches for MM6-8 for when you might want to install them later. They squash still remaining bugs and add some handy modern features to the games. Also make them more compatible for Windows XP (and probably newer Windows versions also).

..To be fair i did not know that emulation from one emulated OS to another (in my case from XP to W 98) looses quality and stability.
It is new for me.

Hmm.. i have 2 PC.
The first 32-bit with W 7 Pro has 3 GB RAM and nice video card.
Index 5.9.
(My PC adviser told me i did mistake using 32-bit version. If i have 64-bit version i may add some more 3 GB RAM chip..)
2 OS:
W 7 Pro.
W XP Pro, emulated by Oracle Virtual box.

The second PC is for emergency case, located in my hall. 1 GB RAM, 256 MB video card. Both PC connected with Home Network. I bored the wall between both rooms and used cable connection.
3 OS:
W 7 Ultimate.
XP Pro - normal installation.
Win 98 emulated by Windows 2007 Emulator or like - forget the name, sry.

The result is,yes, kaput.

That's why i used my W 98 in the second PC. This way i try to avoid Floppy installation, because W 98 allows direct start of MM5 without DosBox.
(How i started before 4 years MM5, stupid me? Dont remember!!)

I am able to create emulated W 98 direct from W 7 in my first PC and use for MM3 and MM5.
Oh, i need fast results against Capo, who has 195 passed games till i, sob sob.. 83 only.
He is real gaming machine, Mama mia..
My GOD,
please, destroy his PC, virus it with bad viruses to have some time to overcome..

If you already have folders for MM3 and MM5 on your PC you can simply copy them into the folder you mount with dosbox and access them, run install when you access those folders to choose better sound settings.
