![]() Eh, can anyone help me with this problem. I have a Vista OS, and when I try running the setup it does not work. It would work on my computer with Windows XP, but the tower for it is now broken.

![]() Hi.
I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit. When I click on the .exe, regardless of compatibility mode (95-XPSP3) I get the following message: http://filesmelt.com/dl/STower.png It's something like "This is not compatible with the Windows you're running. Please check whether or not you need 32 bit or 64 bit and check with the publisher." Like I said I've tried it in Windows 95 compatibility mode, but it still gives me the same error. I've even tried DOSBox, but that said "You need Microsoft Windows to run this." which was only to be expected. Here's a screenshot of the properties: http://filesmelt.com/dl/STower2.png Thanks. |

No 16b support in those. So, yes, once again: [Echo mode˛] Quote:
Ah well, sooner or later people will understand that you can't run 16b in 64b, or they never will ..... *sigh*

Not that it makes a difference, since nothing prevents you from running Windows 3 inside DOSBox. |

Mostly the problem is that the installers -(devs laziness ????)- are 8bit, buggy or even MsDos -(more specific: W95 progs?)- based. ... and add some graph probs... etcetera. But a good programmed 16b prog will run fine in W7 32b.

![]() Belated reply, I know, but I had great success running this game in doxbox, with a windows 3.11 installation. That is, windows 3.11 running in dosbox.
That allowed me to install it from my original SimTower CDROM (yeah I know, such a geek, but I was a huge maxis fan back then and bought every game they made). I checked with the version for download here and go it working too. For info on getting Win3.11 in Doxbox, there is good discussion of that here, including an example of a fully set up install with a properly configured dosbox.conf. Check it out. |
