If they're willing to kill their sales, then go ahead.

The whole thing about whining because people buy used games is just plain stupid. Today's games are way too short so that I'd pay 40-60 € for them.

I supppose the next step is to introduce somekind of ID for the player like fingerprints, so that producers make sure nobody other than the person who bought the game can play it.

Shhhhhhh! Don't give them any ideas. Gods, why are they so annoyed about people selling something they own? Oh dear, they don't get extra money.

Well, I can certainly see this sort of talk swelling the ranks of sites like this, and filling the wallets of the people that run good old games...

If you buy the game, you just get the license to use the game, not the game itself.

It is when stupid things like these will be implemented that everybody will love to have a "hacker" friend.

but still it is your license as soon as the money transaction is finished. and as such you have the right to choose how you will use it. You can delete the CD, burn it with matches, play the game or resell it (or the licence to play) to someone else.

most games cost 40 EUR today. That is about the same as a DVD player. Was it really so much involved int he making of the game? Was there more research into technology and resources used than there are in a DVD player? And why is the same game suddenly 15-20EUR in a year and 5-10 EUR in 3 years. Ok this might be as the demand for it drops. But one would expect the demand for DVD player to drop as well yet price is more or less the same for a couple of years now.

Kugerfang is right. When you purchase a game, you really are just purchasing the license to play, and the physical media on which it exists. You can do whatever you want to the physical media you want. Copy it a hundred times if you want. But you can only play it on one licensed PC. You must "transfer" the license from one PC by uninstalling the game, and reinstalling on another PC to remain legal. And God help you when you've moved it one too many times and the key authentication locks you out.

Morally, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be allowed to transfer a license from one person to another (purchase of used games for instance). I think it really shows company's lack of trust in the public when they place wording in their EULA to disallow that type of activity.
