![]() running with vdm tries to open game in dos, which i cant, or do it manually and manually isnt working. it says to type dosdrv at the command promt and i imagine that would make it work when i opened the thru windows, but dosdrv is coming up as illegal command in dos.
i have a feeling the download just doesnt have sound files because i have gotten my CD version to work, with sound (YAY YAY YAY if i was in a candy store b4 im at disney land now!) and it does not have the speech text, where the downloaded one does, and when i did the setup for the downloaded one the sound test worked. so me thinks it only contains the test sound file. please tell me if im wrong. |

![]() sorryits wasnt the cd version that worked before it was the download, and i thought that having the actual cd in there was fixing the cd-rom problem, but im pretty sure now, that running it thru windows not dos was the solution. now i am running the cd version with sound. if anyone has had trouble installing their cd version please contact me. i will try to help its just too hard to type it all here.

![]() I've read through most of the posts, but it seems I'm rather computer illiterate. I'm using XP and the message "Insufficient EMS or XMS memory available. 2.5 megabytes of EMS or XMS are required to run." I read using dosbox can solve the problem, so I downloaded that, but I'm VERY unfamiliar with dos and don't know how to use it in order to make kyrandia 3 play-able.

![]() what is the name of the folder that kyrandia is in?
save your downloaded kyrandia folder somewhere EASY like c:\kyra no subfolder or if u have to go c:\Kyra\mal something easy. i hope u know what i mean.... open dosbox. type mount a c:\kyra\mal (wherever your 'install.exe' file is, but u have to know it exact and make sure its short otherwise half the word wil be replaced with ~) then type mount c c:\ (or mount c d:\ to save game to second harddrive) then type a:\ the letter will change from C to A. type dir/p this will show u all the files in c:\krya\mal page by page. press enter until you see install as an exe file. note its name - could be inst~2 exe or something. but its install as EXE not any other, EXE. if you only get a few files then you have not saved as stated above. hopefully someone can explain that part better than me. now type install.exe or inst~2.exe whatever its called. this should open installation. it was ask where to save the game, c:\westwood\malcolm. this is where it usually says not enought mem. now it wont(or shouldnt). c:\ doesnt exist in dosbox until you mount itusing either your C or D drive, but whether u use C or D, u will still save in c:\westwood\malcolm. not d:\westwood\malcolm. this should now work. try running in dos, open new dosbox. type mount c c(d? wherever u have it):\westwood\malcolm that should be ok then type dir/p and look for main as an exe file. type main.exe theres ur game. u probably wont have sound, try VDM sound like fifth horseman said. just google VDM sound and download then install and read readme.txt file. told u it was too much to write here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope that works for you. if u cant run thru dos just try double clicking on 'main.exe' in your folder in windows. |

![]() if coming from CD not downloaded file, change mount a c:\whatever to mount a e:\ and do a dir\p again should find install.exe there.
the setup may be done at a different time than install, but just find where u installed it to and go mount c c(or d):\wherever u installed to, then dir/p for setup.exe, and then type setup.exe (or setu~1.exe whatever it is, but again it must be EXE) |

![]() Sorry, but I kind of don't want to search through 4 years of posts.
I think someone might have answered this a long time ago but, how do I get the text to slow down? Sound is fine. Am I supposed to have music? The text blinks in for about 2 seconds and disappears. I can speed read, but not that fast. Help me please?!? Again, sorry if this was answered and I'm too lazy to look through the whole thread. Also, does running Vista make a difference? Kyrandia 1 and 2 work fine. |

![]() I think you have to turn off the voice acting (by moving the voice acting voice setting bar to the left). That worked in Kyrandia 2.
