Did you guys really not read the OP?

He said he'd use it to mostly play Warcraft 3 and abandonware. I don't know about you, but the integrated chipsets today can play those obviously.

Is he really going to play ANY newer games? Otherwise it's a waste of money, my graphics card is almost never taxed on my PC, it's a 256 ATI Radeon and its existence is entirely pointless.

I second Blood-Pigggy's opinion.

Integrated card should do well with Warcraft 3 and games on Abandonia.

I personally have only one computer with integrated video card, but as that computer is actually a server (without monitor ) that probably doesn't count.

the trouble with integrated videocards are drivers, bp. and there are always some kind of different issues too. he doesn't have to buy awesome ultra geeforcae 235092348523905 gtx pro omg ultra. simple old cheap radeon could handle it. but not integrated

So you are saying that integrated cards can't do the job?!

Why drivers would be a problem? They as well might be a problem with regular cards, if you think about it.

And it is better to stay away from ATI as their GL support is bad...

Else, you'll have to pay extra to have the card installed in the box. The labour is really what make the difference.
The only situation where I'd bother paying someone else for the installation would be if opening the case myself would void the sets' warranty. Of course, I don't buy PC's with that sort of restriction on their warranty.
Anything else, I install myself. Takes 5 to 15 minutes, tops.

meh, i have an old Radeon 7500 in my comp. runs abandonware games fine. the most recent year games it can handle are the ones made in the 2004-2005 era. thats as high as it can handle...

and, considering my integrated card couldn't run Halo, and this one can...

i'd say no to the integrated one.

64MB integrated card? Not gonna happen! Though - he may not need DoS to play quiet a few oldies.

What?

One of my PCs has a 64MB integrated chipset card, this is an Intel, which is amongst the worst of the bunch and I've run Warcraft III on the highest settings, ON Battle.net, and without a sign of slowdown.

You're not going to need that much juice for a six year old game, even if it is an integrated card.
