![]() I think the topic says it all, but if you want more informations:
I have this game called Sacred which me and my brother, whom have a legal copy just as mine is, stupidly refuse to connect to the internet server. The thing is, the game is designed so there is no other options than either playing over a LAN game or going straight to the game company MP server. I'd call that a game desing flaw, if you ask me... The real question is, would there be a way to make the game think we are playing a LAN game but playing over the internet IPX game? If yes, could a free program do that and if yes again, do someone know about such a program? Thanks for any help on the matter. My brother and me desperatly tryied to run this game on MP setting in the last week or so. |

![]() First, is the game forcing you to use the IPX protocol instead of TCP/IP? If so there is a way to run IPX traffic over an IP network by encapsulating the IPX packets inside IP datagaram packets. This process is know as tunneling and basically fools the IPX protocol into thinking the IP network (the internet) is a single IPX network.
I don't have time to describe the process right now and haven't attempted it in years but it wasn't that hard to set up. If nobody beats me to it I can help you out in a couple of days. I am moving into a new house and am crunched for time right now.

![]() Check out Gamer's Internet Tunnel: http://www.morpheussoftware.net/git/
It was created for this purpose. Hamachi, as already posted, also supports IPX - and is probably easier to use. |
