One other minor point that did't seem to get balanced right was the ratio between XP and money: what's the point in dumping all those XP on you without enough money to train? I raided all the dragon hoards I could and so on, was quite a scrooge at the shop, and still finished penyless with "eligible" status fo training (at around 105th level overall).
That's what happened to me too, when i first played it. Now i put all my money in the bank (interests make it grow pretty steadily) and hope to overcome that problem. As for the elemental riddle, can't help you there. I know it can be done because i finished the game 6 or 7 years ago but i don't remember how.

Erm... am I the only one who's stuck at the very ending of the game, unable to answer the elemental guardians in the cloud world? I've done all the other requirements to complete the 3rd and final quest, but I can't seem to find a clue to the answer anywhere in the game, and even in the walkthroughs available over the net (which mostly are the same one copied over and over) it isn't mentioned, as if the awakening the guardians thing didn't involve a riddle.
*Possible spoiler*

I don't remember the guardians needing you to answer a riddle. It has been a while since I played this game, but are you talking about the 'Merchants of the Elements' on one of the cloud roads, or the 'Element Sleepers', which require you to fall through holes in one of the cloud roads. (I'm not sure which world these are in, Clouds or Darkside)
The Element Sleepers are the ones you need to talk to, and you just need to speak to them to awaken them.
If you want to know the answers to the merchants' riddles,

Between Fire and Air - Smoke
Between Air and Earth - Dust
Between Earth and Water - Mud
Between Water and Fire - Steam

While talking of Richard Garriott (a god .... that man made the best games ever - I speak of course about Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle) and John Van Caneghem (a mighty god too...) you should read an article about them here :

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_...410/ai_n7180539

they now work together @ NCSoft
Old news. What's saddest, and not mentioned in the small piece, is that Garriott and van Caneghem are just rehashing the same kind of MMORPG fare that's already around elsewhere, these days, via NCSoft. I didn't necessarily expect better out of Garriott, because he was always convinced that his way was the only way to do things, but van Caneghem has some original ideas that he's never been able to do. Perhaps in the future--if he gets a chance, in this modern gaming world ruled over by huge corporations.

Yep, I meant the Elemental Sleepers themselves: when you step into the holes, you are asked "what do you seek", and I couldn't figure it out. But nevermind, in the meantime I tried it again, and turns out the reason why no one mentioned it as a riddle is that the answer is so straight-forward and obvious that it hardly qualifies as a riddle. So obvious, in fact, that I overlooked it as a possibility, the answer being simply each element. :bleh:

But tks still, the tip about the merchants did help: I was curious about them, and figured that the idea was a cross between the elements (as in the para- and quasi-elemental planes in old AD&D 2nd edition setting), but didn't get to figure what exactly the crossings would be. k:

Ok, so, I finished MM IV & V, now where do I d/l MM VI?

Are you playing through DOSbox, or launching it through Windows--and if the latter, what version?

Hi all, I'm having some problems installing World of Xeen from the Might and Magic Millenium edition CD.

I'm trying to install the Clouds, Darkside, and Worlds of Xeen option.

I tried installing it and it recognized my XP as NT and wouldn't install. So I went and explored the drive my disk was in and changed as many .exe files to compatibility mode 98 and it managed to install. Running it is of course another story. I knew it wouldn't run in plain XP but I tried anyway. Wouldn't even boot up the xeen.exe file after installation.

So I turned to the mighty DOSBox but that didn't turn out too well. I installed it through DOSBox picking all the recommended options but when I try to run xeen.exe it will tell me that there is no CD-ROM or something, and I do have the CD in the drive but I don't think that's the issue.

Can anybody who has gotten this to work help me out or direct me to a place that can help?

This system is a lot like Pokémon (the Gameboy game). At the start your Pokémon can only get to level 20. If they get higher, they disobey you. This is why you should have multippple Pokémon at your side instad of the one. To let them grow igher you must get Gym badges, in each city until you have eight. Once you have them all Pokémon up to level 500 will obey you. Even though it only goes up to 200.

Any one know where I can get MM3? I loved Worlds of Xeen, but I've finished it. Never did complete MM3, would love too. Me and my brother spents hours and hours playing Might & Magic. It was great.

Also i'm having trouble getting World of Xeen to run. After the intro I get sound but no picture. i'm using VDMS with soundblaster 16. Any suggestions?

Cheers
