I just saw that there are some new icons on the main site. While looking at the lists of games you see that some of them have little "medals" with the name and some don't. What do those mean? I saw many popular games have that (but not all)...

Yup.
Those games are the "Top Dogs" of Abandonia  Kosta and myself went through every game on the site and discussed which games should get the medals, and which not.

I think some more should get this title:
Asterix & Obelix - it's at least as good as Aladdin (which got it) Colonization (probably even better then the original Civ) Defender of the Crown - a legend amongs the games Tetris - it's... well... Tetris! maybe also: Impossible Mission II - too bad we don't have the first part Micro Machines (part two got it) Stunt Island - how could you miss this one? And the games I think would not fit the list... Star Trek The 25th Aniversery Sorry, but there are better adventure games that didn't get the medal either (like Loom, non of the King's Quests, Blue Force...) |

I think Bouncing Babies should get a medal! Nice icons, though it does clutter a bit when seeing an entire list of them (like the Most Popular section)

And there should be a special category just for those games (so that you'd click on one place and would get the list of only these games).
I think Stroggy is right - it's a bit too much... maybe if there would be just one medal (only in front of the name - not on both ends)... Could there also be some crap icons for the games that are crap (like real dogs...). It oould be a stinking pile of pooh... |

First, the medals are non-negotiable. Imagine if every person decided to suggest his/her own favorite that didn't get a medal... Its just a brief overview of some major classics for people that don't know a lot about dos games. We've had a few requests for this and that's why we added it... There will be no special category. If someone wants to browse for the classics inside a section, that person will have to browse through everything....I could add another Sort by: option, but I think its already cluttered enough

I agree with all the medals except for, as always, Ascendancy.
How could someone think of Ascendancy as a classic over MOO is way beyond me. <_< |
