@Sebatianos: As Tom said, they're currently sorted by English first, the rest alphabetical.

Well R. J. Raffles said it first, but I noticed this - that's why I asked... As far as I can see it's done by population (or at least that could be it - have to check Spain/Poland and Croatia/Norway).

And it's not completely pointless to talk about how they are sorted...

Obviously some things are going to change (otherwise Romano probably wouldn't raise the question).
My primary concern is, that the order stays fixed (so flags would not move around). An unfixed method of sorting them would bring in some confusion...
