![]() I've read that Electronic Arts is starting to sell their games by Internet.
Obviously the other distributors will follow that example, so, what do you think about that? I don't like it :not_ok: , I like to buy a game in a big box, maybe full with books and stupid gadgets (do you remember Warcraft II with the stupendous manual and a block-notes? Am I the only who didn't buy "Bone: out of Boneville" or other games, just due to that reason? And I think that the distributors could use that system to fill the games downloaded with spyware... |

![]() I don't like it because:
1. I can't buy stuff online. 2. I'd have to download it, which would take FOREVER! 3. Everytime my disk was wiped, it's download time again! <_< Plus if they take as long as HL2 to install... :not_ok: |

![]() I like it when it is done like how Stardock operates with its totalgaming.net which means I can buy and download the game, no copy protection so that I can make copies on cd just in case, no stupid keys, and (in theory) if I need to download a game again (lost the HD and CDs for example), I can no matter how long it has passed.
There are plenty of other companies that let you buy and download full games, but always come with a catch, like you need to be online to play the game, or the game is somehow copy protected, or you can only re download the game after X amount of days! Usualy the are all together, and to them I say $#@%@*%^! :-) Then there is the third way, like HL2 where they have managed to combine every bad thing in one package and ruin (FOR ME) the game, thus not buying it. |

![]() Me like Steam lots.
If they just do it that way, it'll be fine. I mean, I can still play the games anywhere I want, as long as I have my account.

![]() I love to get something more then just 'the game'. That's just cheap.
I can't pay through the internet anyway. And I don't trust the internet enough for it, either. I really hope this doesn't become the new trend :not_ok:

![]() I think it's a great idea. It's much easier for me as I don't have time to go shopping and I can get any game I want on demand rather than having to order it and wait for delivery.
On the subject of boxes - Most games don't come in a proper box anymore and very few have a decent manual. The only games that I have bought in the last few years that I would recommend getting in the boxed edition are the Grand Theft Auto games. With internet connections getting faster (it won't be that long until many people have 16 & 32mbps connections with average download speeds between 1.6 & 3.2mbps - imagine what you could download with that!) I think it is the logical step forward and I wouldn't need to find space to store all the DVD-style cases - I could just having everything backed up on CD's that take much less space. And I've never had any problems with internet payments in 5 years of regularly paying for things online. |

![]() The question is, can you pay without creditcard or paypall?
And pure internet delivery (Which is very likely to be the consequence of succesfull internet delivery) negates all chances of getting cool goodies with games. And I've never been able to read a single online manual, either. While I've read all paper ones multiple times.

EDIT: I used to like having all my music on CD's because I like to have the inlays and the cover art but now I only apply that to albums I really want. The majority of my music is delivered digitally - saving me roughly half the money and a lot of effort! |
