some games expect certain files to be on a certain place on the cdrom.

These are security checks.
if you simply copy the file this location infomation goes lost.

with an iso it doesn't
Recently I bought a game names "Singles - Flirt up your life" and I wanted to create a backup copy but been surprised to see that even an ISO is not enough to copy the game. There is a special security on the game which check the original CD everytime the game start. There is probably some random pieces of code written past the 530megs something CD that the ISO can't grab that the security program read on the original CD when it start.

I was wondering tough, doesn't that goes against some law which state that you have full right to have a backup copy for personnal purpose of any game you purchase?
