Thankfully there's a similar topic in this forum that has reminded me of a great game I used to have and have now lost forever, as noone seems to have heard of it and I can't remember what its called.
It was a game about pirates, and I was pretty sure that it was called Pirates! or Pirates! for Windows, but checking out all games by that name all I get is a (lousy - mainly as its not what I'm looking for) game made by Sid Meier

.
It was a sort of shareware game, as I couldn't play it fully and I think I may have got it off a demo disc, but after checking all my demo discs I can't find it at all. Anyway here's what I remember :
There were hexagonal tiles, and there were mainly sea squares though there were some islands, you had to pick a race to play as, things like humans, elves and maybe orcs and you could buy ships and lay mines in the water, it was very basic looking but the gameplay was very good. You could find scrolls and things which had various effects on other people. I know you had to register to unlock the rest of the game so by my reasoning there should be some webpage about it on the net where you can register it, but if anyone can find it I'd be awfully grateful.
Thanks
