Our first computer was a C64 and it is still working. From time to time we are playing the old games. My parents were clever in the 1990er, they bought extra parts of it in case something is getting crashed. And it is not stading in dust, it has a very nice place till the breaks.
(My brother was playing around with QuickBasic on it. I have some experience myself.)
Same thing with our two Pentiums. The last of them was shutting down in 2010 and was using MW 2000 every day. My father loved it. I had my own for a short time (2009-2010) and it worked well with MW XP. I could print, play and got internet... everything was working well till my mother crashed it.
Was glad to have it, because the new laptop had one bug after the other for 2 years and I shutted it down most of the time. Good for me that I can run it without any problems now.
The older the better.... it lasts longer.
I never buying new stuff and live happily ever after.
