A: See if it still happens if you disable the joystick emulation, set joysticktype=none in the [joystick] section of your DOSBox configuration file. Maybe also try unplugging any joystick/gamepad. For SFX, run
SETUP.EXE and set it up equivalent to your DOSBox setup.
