About minig or look for war spoils, i prefer to mine... it gives you the chance to hunt and also its the way of the explorer. Anyway you can make extra RUswhen load full by moving into Mycoon space and sending your fellow arilous to battle.

If I understand you, the first part you're saying there should be a poll ranking, what, people's favorate ships? I'm gonna vaguely wave my hand in the direction of the forums on the
Ur-Quan Masters page. (There's also the
Pages of Now and Forever, but their forums are not half as active as UQM.) Chances are that's been covered there before.
As for the second, I you're saying you prefer mining to combat for your RU's, then you say that the Mycon are good for combatting your RUs, so I really don't know what side of this issue you're on.
The down side of combat RU's (maybe I'm restating you here) is you don't find anything if you don't explore planets. So for newbies I say mine till the cows come home, or the SaMatra blows up. Then the second time around gather resources by force.
