no, we wouldn't be using a D&D game (like baldur's gate, neverwinter nights, etc).
We'd be using an actual pen and paper adventure used in official D&D adventures by Wizards of the Coast registered members.
If my previous sentence didnt make sense, I'll explain.
pen and paper D&D (where people have a bunch of stats on paper and roll dice) is still widely played everywhere. I took the WotC (wizards of the coast) quiz for becoming an official DM (dungeon master) and passed. I can run games in any official WotC event.
So what my suggestion is about in this forum-based game would be:
1. players state that they'd like to play. The game rules are similar to Baldur's gate (which uses slightly simplified core D&D rules)
2. players create their characters in baldur's gate or similar games, then post their stats, inventory, etc.
3. when at least 4 players have made their characters, the game begins.
4. the DM starts the adventure by telling the characters where they are (usually a village/town/city) and what they can do (rumors they have heard, jobs offered by the mayor/king/etc).
5. the players decide on a course of action.
how does that sound?
