There are a few micronations that take themselves very seriously.Usually they do have around 50 'inhabitants' but it is not required. Becoming a Microstate like the Vatican (and thus enjoying recognition by the rest of the world) is much more difficult. [/b][/quote]
I always thought that you could not declare your house as a separate country as then you would be, in effect, stealing territory from your country, which they wouldn't like. If you find an unclaimed island though, you can start your own country or claim it for the country of your choice.
