 Only one question. Why would we want to help the little alien that was one of a fleet of thousands that tried to destroy our homeworld?

Because if you don't help him, his parents are going to do it again
 But thanks to both of you. The eyes took some time to animate correctly. We tried eyebrow-twitches, nose sniffing, and even bring the right (for us) hand in to catch the tear on a finger... In the end we went for the subtle tear and double wink as you can all see now
