Erm, okay then. Outside of Gilbert and Sullivan I don't listen to that many operettas, and I'm only familiar with a fewselections of opera, and those are the ones I've sung in classical voice lessons. I'm familiar with a few ballets, and I especially like Tchaikovsky and Stravinski. As far as classical music goes I tend to go either for early baroque works, or else the more contemporary 20th century stuff such as Satie and Debussy.

I occasionally like some of the jazz my mom listens to, and I tap-dance to quite a bit of swing. Erm, suffice to say country doesn't appeal to my personal tastes, although I respect bluegrass players because at least it takes a fair bit of talent and skill to do all that fast picking (my dad plays bluegrass).

While I am familiar with a number of those genres, I don't really listen to them on a regular basis. And neither do the majority of people, I'm guessing. It would take ages to compile a list of different music genres together, and many people wouldn't know what you are talking about. If, for example, I were to start talking about Humppa, I would be extremely unlikely to get a response other than "huh?"

LOL Please, don't...

I don't know how to describe my taste for music. I listen to something from almost any genre I can think of, but inside the genres I'm very selective. Genrewise I listen to almost anything from Jean Sibelius to Napalm Death, but on some genres there are just two or three bands out of ~50 I know that I like, but I can't think of any major genre of music from which I wouldn't like anything.

I think I mostly listen to older rock (a very wide categorization, but I really can't describe it anyway else) from 60's to 80's. Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix.. Pink Floyd, maybe even Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Creedence Clearwater Revival, Herman's Hermits, etc. etc... And let's not forget about The Beatles! They're pure genius..

I also listen a lot to Finnish rock bands from the 80's and early 90's like Eppu Normaali, Sielun Veljet, Hassisen Kone, Juice Leskinen, Kolmas Nainen etc.. These probably won't say anything to a lot of you, so that'll be enough.

I actually happen to play in a band that plays something that mixes that kind of rock, funk and maybe some hiphop even.

Ok, I think that's a long enough post for now.

Swing, eh? Swing rocks! There's a brilliant Jurassic 5 track by the name of Swing Set on Quality Control with some swing samples and scratching, it's amazing.

I listen to a lot of stuff, from many different genres.

But my main likes are punk and hardcore punk (this includes some metalcore, emo and screamo, although these two are basically the same thing when you consider a certain meaning of emo).

The whole reason I like punk is because of Pennywise, they opened the door to me about 7 years ago. Although I'm starting to get a little bored punk.

The whole reason I like hardcore is because of Time In Malta, I liked one hardcore band before them, but if I listened to other hardcore bands I didn't like the sound or agression, and then Time In Malta came along and showed me how great hardcore music can be.

And now the reason I'm getting bored of regular punk is because of a band called A Wilhelm Scream, they took the normal basic punk sound frenzied it up with psychotic guitar work, they made every song they wrote much more interesting with their disordered song structures, their work is very unique, they took a massive risk and pulled it off, every song is just pure brilliance. I'll never see punk the same again.
