Actually the first link itself is a warning against irresponsibly tampering with the genetic code
What I was expressing though was mostly concern about careless handling of the genetic knowledge, and in my opinion we're still far away from fully understanding the possibilities AND the responsibilities of this complicated area of science.
Hence why the decision to allow the GM food is much rushed out. I think we have more than enough of natural food available here already at the moment that it doesn't justify the use of GM food except of the financial reasons which, as usually, are taken as excuse for anything. The genetic manipulation requires in my opinion decades more of careful studying before we can safely claim to be able to use it responsibly, and NOT for financial and maybe more sinister reasons (which won't be a long time coming after that) only.
