I have tried to play this game. But everytime (in the very beginning of the game) when I go to the tarven and "Sign In", the game would hang. I suspect it will be the same whenever I visit blacksmith or whatever shops.

I have tried playing with VDM sound (on go.bat) and had tried Dosbox (with and without sound). But it always hang at the same place. BTW, my laptop is running xp.

I'm not the original poster, but I too had this problem. What worked for me was to deactivate sound in the DOSBox config file. "sbtype=none" Having sound would have been better, but I tried a bunch of different settings and that's the only way I could get it to run. No sound = No problems.

May I dare ask for help because more than 3 days I am unable to kill Lord Xeen.
Info :
All my heroes are pumped-up and protected by Days of Protection.
The levels are 16-19.
I have the special Xeen Slayer. Note: I get it by cheat – writing in the mirror “I lost it”. I know the enemy is with HP 500 and AC 20.
Well, my dream became true. Here we go –
The ugly sphere like Lord versus brave yog.
The monster is very fast , but yog strike with Star Burst.No result.
Then one by one all my heroes beat it.
No result . Soon one hero became Eradicated. I heal with the magic Divine intervention , no result. So , after 3-4 round yog is down.
Why? Where I failed?
Some say I had to unshield my hero with the Slayer?

Pls Help me , I play the game about 5 years.

Set a beacon near Lord Xeen. Start your buffing tour at 5 am in Nightshadow. Use all fountains in the cities, and even others. Gain 10 temporary levels in Nightshadow, get +50 str in Winterkill, get luck in Rivercity, ....
Use the town mirrors to get to town wells fast, you can use "Teleport" and "jump" to save time if you also need wells outside the cities, maybe you'll find one which increase resistance vs the element Lord Xeen is attacking with (I don't remember which it was). Don't press the space key after drinking to save time.

Buff up your party before the confrontation, "Day of Protection" and "Day of Sorcery" are must have (Don't buff before you gained the 10 levels however)

Only the "Xeen Slayer Sword" (can be found in your dungeon) can hurt Lord Xeen, you can trade the sword around so everyone can attack with it when it it is his turn.

To make your party stronger you can gain XP in the Arena if you want, fighting the maximum possible number of level 9 monsters yields the most XP (Don't forget to buff up however, cast "protection from poison" after "day of protection"). You can only have 99 arena wins, so if you also have "Darkside of Xeen" installed leave some fights for the darkside arena. But in this case you'd better gain fast and easy XP by doing the easier quests on darkside.

Another option to gain experience is exploring the lava sea and the dungeons there if you haven't done it yet. With 10 temporary extra levels, protection from fire, shield, luck and temporary raised fire resistance you should be able to absorb most of the fire damage. But you can still investigate the dragon and vulcano cave after defeating Lord Xeen who shouldn't be too hard for a fully prepared party.

Btw I increased my heroes levels as follow:
17, 18, 20, 18, 18 from left to right.
I wipe out old moving creatures in, under and over the land of Xeen.
I will prepare better and will try again .

Ok, when I download it then try to extract, it says an error occurred. I have downloaded it several with the same result. Would the problem be the extraction program, or is it on your end?

After hearing all the positive comments on this (very long :blink: ) thread I really want to play this game!

As it happens, yes, the WORLD of XEEN was re-released for a short time with speechification and all that whatnot <the speech was the only change> in a package deal that included MM's 5, 6, 7 and 8 as well as the sword of xeen(an expansion on MM 5)

Hi, there,

I very strictly followed the above instructions before the final battle against lord Xeen.

Details: I have 200 000 credits and about 4000 gems.
My party is well equipped and healthy.
All members have Slayer Xeen Sword.
The levels are 17 – 20 depending of the heroes.
I am able to kill 7-8 opponents in Arena zone. All other enemies ( except some) in lava dungeon are dead.
..Well, I buff up my party with all options available after the guidelines of well respected mate Kmonster.
May I dare to present my deeds and actions.Ty.
.. Carefully watching the time I use my Loyds Beckon and arrive before the door after which is waiting Xeen. Save. Spell Day of protection. Ready. One step ahead.
The ugly sphere-like monster appeared and imm. attacks me. All alive. Teleport 2 steps to reach it. It again strikes me. Still all alive. Then is my turn. I am using the sword but no effect visible. I know it is 500 HP, 20 AC and has terrible magic. The battle continued.
Strange – I beat it several times with this sword, but I do not see the red flashes onto Xeen , meaning I really harm the lord , and it does not redden. ( All other enemies after some strikes became red and soon died. It is correct?). After its third strike some of my heroes died ( they became skeleton-blue-like ). Sadly the magic against this condition failed. I am upset and soon I am down.
Well I will try again and again, but why I am loosing? I think I am good gamer and I do beat millions of monsters in many games.

So, I started the next game – Dark side - . Is it possible to play this game and after a while to go back and kill the lord?

Pls excuse me in advance for my detailed explanation of the game.
