If I may make a suggestion, how about a forum-based classic pen&paper D&D game.
One of us is the Dungeon Master, and every player creates his/her character. The DM then presents the initial state of the adventure, and the players say their actions.
For combat, the players say what they want to do, and the DM does all the die rolls to determine the action's outcome.
I've played like this a few times before and it works. The only requirements are players that know the D&D rules (being a Baldur's Gate player counts, i guess).

What do you think?

@TC: WTF is AD&D?
@Nikson: This might be a bit annoying for me to do. But it would have pretty good art. I'm not quite sure about what you mean but I'll scan a pic of my understanding when I get the scanner hooked up again.
@Moogle: I had a feeling if you visited this thread you'd vote for FF3. :bleh:
@Blood-Piggy: Since I'll be playing these through an emulisator I can save the state in the middle of a battle. Perhaps we could get the forum member's say on what attack he/she wants to use or how they want to use up their turn.
@Reamus: You can't play as Magus. (I think. I've not yet finished it.)
@DragonLancer: Yeah, seems Chrono Trigger has the most votes.

AD&D is Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. A version of the core (pen and paper) D&D rules, optimised for computer games.

There wouldn't really be much art, unless the DM is showing you a portion of the current map, or a strange item or message you found...
I'll give you an example of what my idea would be like.

Me: Dungeon Master (DM)
Bobbin: sorceror
moogle: thief

DM: you are standing at the entrance to the ogre's cavern. You can smell rotten meat coming from inside. The only light is provided by a withering torch set in one of the walls. The cavern stretches straight in front of you, into total darkness. You have travelled this far, and are only a step away from recovering the Blade of Champions which the Ogre is rumored to be hoarding. What do you do?
Bobbin: I pick up a pebble, cast "light" on it. Using it for a torch, I go inside the cavern, slowly.
Moogle: I draw my daggers and try to sneak along one of the walls.
(DM rolls dice to see if the ogre can see and/or hear the players)
DM: You hear a great roar as the ogre is alarmed by your presence! you were silent, Moogle, but Bobbin's shiny pebble was a moving light source which the ogre saw. You still cannot see the ogre, but he knows you're here.

I'd show an example of combat, but I'm lazy right now :P

No offence, I didn't really like D&D. I didn't really understand it.

Mmm, you could take Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale and make custom characters for each person.
That would really be nice.

You don't understand D&D? It's just like secret of mana if you think about it, only the game itself always rolls your dice for you.

Enix made Terranigma. Why isn't that one up there, it shares about 5 of its songs with Chrono Trigger... :bleh:

I voted for Tales of Phantasia simply because it was lonely. I loved that game.

None taken.
The most important rule of D&D that players should know is that they can do anything and everything that crosses their mind. The game does have a mathematical system implemented to handle any choice and activity.
90% of the work falls on the DM.

I wonder if I should start a new topic to see how many people would be interested in playing forum-based D&D...
