I'll see if I could write a new review for it. In all respect, it looks similar enough to Battle Isle for me to like it.

Nectaris is way older than Advance Wars, although I'm not sure about Famicom Wars, the 1st one in that series.

And yes Military Madness = Nectaris

It reminded me of Advance Wars series more then panzer general. Actually it looks like it was cloned from Advance Wars rather then battle isles. BI is a bit more complicated but this is rather basic[/b]
Im the one who wrote the 8th post by the way :P and by Advance Wars i also ment Famicom wars (the old ones) since they are almost exactly similar. But this is somewhat off topic anyways catch u around k:

Indeed, Nectaris / Military Madness (1989) is distinct (both in style and substance) from the Famicom Wars series (incepted in 1988). Yes, there are some similarities, but after spending a little time with each series you'll find that they offer different experiences.

Personally, I prefer Nectaris / Military Madness, but I'm biased .

This sounds like an interesting game to me. I have played the Battle Isle games a lot.

Regarding the review, I recall that Underdog has rated this as a top dog. Best thing might be to try it on your own.

A new review would be appreciated.

Well, now that isn't true of course. See the post above yours, it is still useful for those who have old systems to play the old games on... so it is only pointless for us right now, but it still preserves the game for the future.

I am curious though, has anyone gotten this game to work properly in XP? If so, what did you do? Anything out of the ordinary?

Thanks to all that respond.

I have just tried out the game using dosbox 0.65. It works without any flaws.

Unfortunately I can not tell you what is different from my configuration that makes the game run.

In dosbox.conf I have got the entries:
memsize=16
xms=true
ems=true
umb=true

Maybe you should check for differences.
