I'd suggest you use DOSBox. This game was made for DOS and BOSBox emulates it extremely well. So the game should run properly; also it's easy to speed up - slow down in it - F11 (slower) F12 (faster).

Oh and i'm running it in a high res as the notes on the GTA site suggest for trying to slow it down, my machine is:

AMD 1.8 Ghz
1 GB ram
Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb

It won't run in dos box, it says it can't run in DOS mode when I try, this is the windows updated version from the rockstar website not the original game. Equally F11 brings up the screen resolution setting, it has no relevence to speeding up or slowing down, and F12 apparently does nothing.

WOW, what a game!!! Too long that i don´t see the old GTA... i still got the GTA 2 installed

Can anybody tell me how to save in this game? I'm really enjoying it but it annoys the hell out of me having to restart from the beginning every time.

Oh, and is there a server for network games somewhere? Or are there not enough players these days?

im a master at this game, i knew every little trick of all the levels, i even wrote step-by-step the order of things i should do, the trick is to increase ur score multiplier the most u can with low paying missions, and then do the high paying missions, cuz once ur multiplier is like x10 youll quickly get enough score to finish the level, or even do x2 the necessary score like i used to enjoy doing

people who are having trouble driving around should use the handbrake more, i used to do some crazy driving, always holding the accelerator, and using the handbraker everytime i had to change direction

the reason i played another games more then this one in my life is cuz i had no one to play multiplayer with, i actualy played it once or twice with my brother when we had 2 computers, but he kind sucked hehe, btw, is there a place on the web that i can find ppl who play this game theese days? i would love to play this game again, but has to be multiplayer, cuz ive finish all the levels, and some of them a lot of times
