I see that Amazon has World of Xeen, Sword of Xeen, M&M VI and M&M VII, all packaged together, for less than $10.

FYI to anybody who might be thinking about purchasing a games pack to get the xeen games...

The edition that comes in the "Might and Magic: Millenium Edition" (This is the version you are recommending, Borodin. Not a good idea.) is the CD ROM edition, and I was NOT able to get it to work under DosBox, VDMSound, OR straight XP. If anyone has any idea how to get it running, please let me know. The problem has to do with the CD-ROM...

WOX can't recognize modern cdrom drives. Even with the MSCDEX wrapper loaded under DosBox, the program would bomb out telling me "There is a music CD loaded in the CD-ROM drive. Please replace with a Might and Magic CD and rerun the application."

HOWEVER, the good news is you can still buy, for cheaper, "Might and Magic VI: Special Edition" Which contains the DISK versions of ALL Might and magics 1 - 5, plus swords. These games are EASY to get running, both under VDMSound and DosBox.

This is how I ended up getting them to run. And what great games they are! k:

I wasn't recommending it. I was responding to MrGrinch's question about where he could buy it. As to not suggesting it--I would think we'd do better to find out MrGrinch's Windows flavor before completely ruling it out, wouldn't you?

This might seem stupid, but I seem to have Clouds of Xeen and Darkside of Xeen, but for some reason the Darkside of Xeen won't link to Clouds of Xeen. Is there any way to do this manually? Thanks.

Am I the only one who will purchase a game to justify my piracy? Half the time you need to do some light of hand to get your game running anyways, it's just easier to aquire a cracked/hacked/edited version of the game, but I buy it anyways just to be an honest, law abiding pirate.

...but isn't that an oxymoron?

Thank you for uploading this wonderful game. It was really the game that got me into the rpg genre. BTW, if anyone knows the password to the console on the bottom level of the dungeon of death, please post it. Also I never figured out what the traders were transporting between the elements on the skyway. I think those are the only puzzles I never solved. (...)
I played this game long time ago but i still remember my Dungeon of Death trip without any clues and with no knowledge of what awaited me there. After getting to the ultra hard "Lord Xeen production facility" level, killing all Xeens and destroying all Xeen machines you can type "computer" at the terminal to get... some sort of 'congratulations!' message.. That's all. Yeah, i was a bit dissapointed too. Years later i tried to find out if there were some other things to do in Dungeon of Death but found nothing at all about this.

As for the element trader's goods - they're trading mixed elements:
air and earth = DUST
fire and air = SMOKE
water and earth = MUD
fire and water = STEAM

I can't run this. At all.

If I try DosBox, it will either tell me that I have a music CD in the drive, or that the file that I am trying to run doesn't exist. If I try to run it with VDMSound, all I get is that annoying blinking cursor.

I'm using the Interplay RPG compilation version, if that helps.

Have you tried changing the low-level CD support? It's explained in the readme, BTW.
