The clues sound like something to do with the B-29, but I don't know a pre-'85 game about it.
So my guess... Could it be... B-1 Nuclear Bomber? (Made in 1981)

 ??Oh, and I don't think its one of the Tom Clancy stuff because the games that were made (rainbow 6, ghost recon, splinter cell) don't have movies (not yet at least!). hmmm... ok, is it one of the harry potter games?? |

LOL, all good choices but none of them is the game.
Here is a big hint, the game was at the time of release as much succesful (money) as the movie. Also do not forget that the game is inspired by the movie/book and not following it. So for example it could be Blade Runner but not Indiana Jones and the last crusade (the adventure). I hope I am helping more than making things worse |
