I'm trying to run Kyrandia 3 in DOSbox .65 on Mac OSX. I've successfully mounted the directory as a CD (mount /users/me/etc -t cdrom) but when I try to run main.exe, I get the following:

Not enough disk space to run Malcolm's Revenge (need 100000 bytes)

It's got me stumped. Any help very appreciated.

Ah, my bad, I figured it out. You have to mount another directory from which to RUN the game after mounting the CD.

Sorry for the stupid question... but how exactly do you mount another directory and stuff? Thx

Well, you can mount as many directories (or folders or whatever you want to call it) as drives as you want.
For exemple, if you extract the game files to a folder called "c:\games\kyrandia3CD" and want to mount it in DOSBox as a CD drive, you'll have to enter the command (at DOSBox command line):
Quote:
mount d c:\games\kyrandia3CD -t cdrom

and you can have the game installed at folder "c:\games\kyrandia3" and mount it as:
Quote:
mount c c:\games\kyrandia3

this way you will have two folders "emulated" as two drives (C: and D: , being the last one a CDRom drive)

(sorry if I can't explain it well enough, maybe you should try this section of the DOSbox tutorial)

I got a problem Think it's a missing file error or corrupt file. When I'm gonna leave Isle of Cats, just when Malcolm is gonna go onboard on the pirate ship, the game crashes and leaves the text: <28> IO error with PIRATELF.WSA <11> - exiting".

Help please

EDIT: Never mind, I just had to re-download the game, then it worked

Hey, everyone!

First of all I want to say that this is a really cool site!
I was so excited when I found these old Kyrandia games after such a long time...used to play them quiet a while ago on my old computer and felt nostalgic about them...
What I love about Legend of Kyrandia are the simple but beautiful graphics, the funny dialogues and the music - never seen anything alike!
It´s sad there are no such games anymore... Everything is just about action and graphics that make you feel dizzy. Well, maybe it´s just because I´m a girl :bleh:

Well, since I was so excited I played all three games and catching the enthusiasm I felt the need to create something useful to contribute here... I remember me going grazy on this Island of Cats so I made a map... tried at least... Hope it can help anyone with the same problem...

Yes, it looks messy, but try to do it any better, would ya?

It won't let me play. It says "not enough memory"

I have Windows XP.

How do I play it? I haven't played it in years and I miss it! *cries*

Do you use dos-box? If so: Configure it (read the FAQ), check the EMS, and see if that'll do the trick.

Hello I wanted to play this game but it appears that the dialogues go incredibly fast and I can't read a thing... Somebody had this problem in previous posts but he was on Linux and I'm on XP so I don't know how to solve this... Any idea?

CPU Killer software that will throttle down your CPU's efficiency.

That, or DosBox.

I heard CPU killer can damage my computer... Is it true? And for DOSbox, I used it but the dialoques went fast too... Must I configure it and if yes, how? (Yeah, I'm a poor one of that kind that doesn't understand a thing when it's a matter of programms & Coe...)

Nope, not true.

If the dialogues go too fast in DosBox, decrease the number of cycles DosBox is running at.

Okay guys, here's what I did to get it to work. I then uninstalled it and reinstalled it to doublecheck. This should work on newer machines with windows xp.

Dled the cd version of the game and burned it to a cd just to make things easier. If you don't wanna do that just remember where you unzipped the game to as this will be your "cd"

Installed the game. When it starts asking you about your sound card click no and cancel out of that.

Open dosbox, create a new profile for your game. Make malcom.bat your game exe and setup your setup.exe

For mounting click auto once and then click add.

Change drive to cd-rom and click browse and choose the cd with the game or the folder you're using as your "cd"

Go through and finish the profile.

Right click the name and choose run setup. You should get past the infamous benchmarking problem. Once that exits out double click and it SHOULD be working.

Sorry if someone answered this already but that's how I got it to work.
