hey just dusted off the old zork and was looking forward to playing it but i've hit a couple of snags. firstly the movies play way too fast and secondly i have no sound?!!

im running winXP with a realtek ac'97 audio. someone posted a similar problem with the same specs but it never got resolved. Im hoping that someone has found a way to play this great game with the same specs that i have.

cheers.

Unfortunately, this particular Zork game happens to be ESA-protected, so you can't download it. You might want to try Zork 1, Zork 2 or The Lurking Horror, though.

I got this game several years ago (that's right, I have the actual CD) and it was fun, but I was little and couldn't get past the town. Then about a year ago I was yerning to hear "Want some rye? 'Corse ya do!" and tried to play it on my new computer, but the sound wouldn't work. Any who, I just realized, Hey I have DOSBox, I bet it'll work with that! And I tried it and the sound works, but now it skips all of the video things, ie. when I got to the lighthouse instead of the guy talking to me I just went in. Anyone else experience this, and how do I fix it? Thanks

 It's pity isn't it that most of the fine oldies have had to be removed and they aren't even available in the shops.

I play it (often) in Win98 and love it...it's probably the best Zork games

Take the rye but for pity's sake don't drink it :bleh:

I can't believe they removed it. Specially when Activision is in NO PLANS to release a ZORK game anytime soon, who knows if ever we'll see a ZORK game again!

Shouldn't be a problem! In your Inventory just pick it up and put in the 'globa' as you call it..."drop it in" will be the message when you take over it. :bye:

Happy Hunting!
