get 1 500gb hdd instead of two, you can add that later
*meep* the coolers, they're useless.

with this, you can exclude the soundcard as well . and buy later, with the new speakers, cause with the ones you buy, seriously, no point, just wasted money

i'd also say screw the second cd rom drive too, but maybe you need it for some kinky reasons=S

Ummm I have XP 64bit due to my rig having 4gb of ram and I have yet to see one driver or game not work... people must be trying to play really crappy games or something.

Judging from my current HD usage, I'm going to need two of them

I guess that's a point. I'll think about it.

I've already removed the coolers. Of course the brackets don't really consume power, so it came down to a single fan.

I need both a DVD-RW and a DVD-ROM be able to be able to burn DVD's and still play CD's that hate DVD-writers. It's also extremely practical; I've used such a setup and wouldn't want to go back

Those coolers cost an negligible sum. Seriously, not just relative to the rest of the system - but those brackets were useless anyway; the case comes with a similar system in the first place.

By the way, can 32bit Windows do 2GB+1GB? Or should it be (1GB+1GB)+(512MB+512MB)? Or is that related to DDR2?
Someone on the TES forums mentioned "3GB of DDR2" being useless in XP because "You can't even run it in Dual channel mode". Uppon which someone replied:
Quote:
Dual Channel Mode for 3GB of DDR2 would work as; Dimm0: 1GB / Dimm1: 1GB / Dimm2: 512MB / Dimm3: 512MB (or any similar combo.). All Windowx x86 (32-bit) operating system can use at least 3GB of RAM. Windows XP 32-bit can sense of a little more than Vista 32-bit. Windows XP 32-bit usually capped out at ~3.25GB and Vista is around ~3.1GB. This is very system dependant.

Again, for memory if you keep the system balanced in pairs of memory it will work in Dual Channel Mode: Those systems with only 3 DIMMs may be out of luck with more than 2GB of memory in dual channel mode, since they rarely accept more than 1GB sticks and any memory in the third dimm usually disables dual channel mode.
I don't quite follow. To be able to get the most out of DDR2 on a 32Bit system one needs to make sure it's in pairs; an even number?

i think that it doesn't matter much but 1gb+1gb + 512+512 should faster on dual ddr (which you have), so if it doesn't make a huge money difference and you are not going to upgrade that soon, go for that one

(When considering PSU-load, how much difference would high-end gamer peripherals (on USB) make? Backlighted stuff, and the like.) - Edit: Minimal :cheesy:

Edit: That said, does anyone have any experience with these things? I can't decide between a G11 or Eclipse II.

And yes, I know that when looking purely at function the Eclipse is a waste of money. It's just that I can use backlit keys since the PC will be tucked away in a dark corner, and that I'm looking for something more comfortable then this el-cheapo keyboard I'm using now :cheesy:
And using the bundled PSU saves me quite a bit of money to invest in just this sort of thing.

actually, even thought it's useless, i'd want the funky shiny keyboard too if i had money

if i were you i'd go for the eclipse 2 with standard layout. logitech is always overpriced and i barely think that you're gonna use all the funny special functions keys much often. the eclips looks just more elegant (BTW i hope it's not on battery, those are really vile things)

and yeah, the psu load is just about nothing ..

Ugh, I can't understand how some people put up with wireless stuff. I used a wireless keyboard and mouse for two months before getting so fed up I took my old stuff from the attic (including the el-cheapo keyboard ) and plugged those in instead.

So, yes, they're wired. Almost all keyboards geared towards gaming are :amused:

In my opinion the Eclipse II is the best looking keyboard on the market today. It's also the smaller then the G11. The problem is that it's as expensive as the G11, but without the extra function. There's also a bit more doubt to it's reliability, quality of construction, durability and sturdiness then there is for the G11. Of course, the G11 doesn't have laser-etched keys. But then again the Eclipse keys are said to wear off laser-etched or not.
