Wow! That tutorial is really good!

My work:
Very nice
shadow still needs a wee bit of work I think
there is a small part missing between the corner of the house and the shadow... not sure how to explain it

Yep, before you start coloring and creating all kinds of details. You first should create a ''skeleton'' of the things you want to build.

I always make seperate documents with various kind of lines. With premade lines you can easily copy them, and paste the lines to create a good building outline in just minutes.

It's hard to explain how I keep scale and proportion. Start with the building outline (mainly blocks) and then ''cut'' out the details. A bit like making a statue

The hardest thing for me in pixel art is finding the right colours because you need a slightly darker version of the colour for shadows and a slightly lighter colour for the edges. In the hut I did above I had to use the eyedropper tool to get the colours off the example in the tutorial.

You have to make sure the there are equal amounts of pixels in each of the sections that make up the lines, it takes lots of time to do this but just be patient and practice.

Besides, you don't suck at everything, your review was good!
