Can any one tell me what "Pieces of eight are?" What purpose do they serve:confused:.....SAL

Dunno what purpose they serve on this board exactly , but if I remember correctly "pieces of eight" are a currency from the Monkey Island adventure games... so I guess you can take it to be some kind of wink, wink, nudge, nudge "currency" or "reward".

I know guessing the screenshot of today will earn you some, and I guess it's sort of a "prize", guess correctly and you will be rich and everybody will be in awe of your unparallelled knowledge of old games

From what I know, there was some intention that pieces of eight would be a way of getting into the VIP section.
 And that they would also be given for uploading/reviewing games, submitting extras and translating the reviews.

Pieces of eight
Yesterday I logged in and saw that my entire collection of pieces of eight, some 667 - were gone! I had a rank of about 70, now it's 1486
 Have anyone else experienced this? What's going on?Anyway, I've answered the daily screenshot quiz and gained 6 new pieces of eight but I want the rest back...

I was in an added a few lines on my personal info, "busy with" section, but I would have kept out if I knew it would cost me this much
No seriously I did change a few lines but why did my pieces dissappear?
