Teak is more than 20% heavier than Pine. It's also more weather resistant.

I did once (accidentaly). It was in a room with very little light fo several days and now it's allmost white (the color is uneven, so it's pale orange in some parts, and dirty white [I have no idea what that color is realy called] in others)
