My suggestion is plain and simple, today i was thinking and this is the result: What about a FPS section???

And yes, there are pros and cons with adding it.

Pros:
It will make it easier for rambo-wannabes to download games they like

Cons:
We have just a handful of FPS on the site (and very few FPS are actually abandoned), so it would be a very thin genre. If we gather all the abandoned FPS ever made, we still wouldn't get more than one page and a little on the second.

Actually, i'm for this, since in future there will be too many games i action, and i doub that 20 games are not enough for new section.
Also, FPS are so popular that it would be wise creating a new section for them, since there probably are many kids who are just interested in those games.

And at the end, i personally would like to se action section without FPS, don't ask me why cause i don't know. Somehow i found normal action games different from FPS.

Or maybe we could add sub-categories within existing one?

Well personally I wouldn't miss FPS if we took them of the site altogether (I generally dislike the genre - with few rare exceptions).

But it's a very (over) popular genre - and hopefully more FPS will become abandoned later on... Who knows. I think it's OK for now, but I think this should be considered in the future if more FPS become abandoned.

BTW - I think the games in the Action and Arcade section are very similar (at least some of them). Arcade games are for the ones, that were originally made for th earcade machines right? but that may mean there are some other games that would have to be in that category (some racing games, sports games, most games from the Crypt - they were first of all made for the arcade machines)... The categories we have aren+t completely seperated and some games could fall in more then one category...

I think we should start thinking about maybe just a few big categories:
-action, -thinking, -sports
and there should be subcategories for the rest...
FPS would become one of the subcategories of -thinking games (naturally
:bleh: ).

Well the problem is it's hard to recognize real categories, one could argue to put one game in several different categories, so I think it's best the way it is now, at least until the whole site will be remade...

Ken's Labyrinth
Montezuma's Return
Strife
Terminal Velocity
Wolfenstein 3D

Then there's arguably these, too:
Elite Plus
Mechwarrior
MDK
Wing Commander
XWing

There're still more coming in, too, as there're still quite some FPSes out there that're lacking on the site (like Entombed, for example)

If my opinion counts, I'd like to see FPS section separated from Action one.

Soon there'll be another FPS game added updated to the site, Terminal Terror.

I myself enjoy adding them the most for some reason.
Until it becomes boring because the place as filled up with them, I'll prolly keep adding FPS games.

As for the suggestion, I'm not sure, it'll be very interesting and easier to find what you're looking for, on the other hand, Action and FPS aren't very much of a difference.
