I never cheat first time I play a game(on that difficult...)
But then...that is whole other thing :evil:
I like "cool" cheats that dont give that much advantages but, are just fun(matrix mode and unlimeted grenades and no other weapon mode in AvP for example)

Its fun cheating in RTCW. Ill just get god mode and choose a certain weapon to use to wreak havok. its fun using panzerfausts 24/7... or that taser..

I bought a new graphics card (X800 XT) because Doom 3 was annoyingly jerky on my old one, and haven't bothered reinstalling it yet. Still, it makes Half-Life 2 nice and sexy, and UT2004 is gorgeous with maxed out settings (plus the menu announcer swears at you, for added comedy effect)...

I almost never cheat at anything - it always bores me.

I hate when people cheat online, because that to me, totally defeats the purpose. I remember playing my barb from Diablo II in open battle net once so that my friend and I could use a mule and trade items, and these people would come up moving super fast with like, 100000 aura's around them and the look like death lords and they say "Hey, want some really cool hacked items!?!?!?" and then as soon as you walk out to go beat up some monsters they dice you into a thousand bits with one hit...it really pissed me off

cheats should only EVER be used in the follwing circumstances:

-single player games , multiplayer = hacks and you deserve to die if you low enough to use hacks.
- if you cant defeat a certain point
- if your just mucking around

Don't see the point in cheating online, someone is bound to find out your doing it, plus you'll start to get a bad rep from people if you do it alot.

I rarely cheat, but my reasons are practical rather than moral: basically it depends on the game. For example I played Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine mostly in the invincible mode, because I liked the puzzles etc but didn't care much for the action sequences. I'm just not any good at them and usually it does spoil my enjoyment of a game somewhat if I keep getting shot by the bloody KGB no matter what I do. But in the type of games I usually play ("pure" adventures, mostly), cheating would be completely pointless, so I don't do it.

The only times I end up cheating are after I've beaten a game and get bored...

example: Running around at the intro to Half Life shooting scientists and then laughing when they say "Not now Gordan, I'm busy" from the floor in a pool of their own bodily fluids.

Setting my jump level to like, 2000 in Morrowind and watching my character shriek through the sky in a dress.
