![]() I always preferd a small army avoiding fights untill I could find the map to the next realm. When I'd get to the fourth one I'd get a few dragons and get rid of the rest so I could fly and search all over the place - not to mention they're somewath more effective in combat then a few bunches of peasents with pitchforks and straw... in their heads.

![]() This was one of my favorite Genesis games. I rented it like 8 times, then finally asked the video store guy if I could buy it. He looked in the computer and said it still got rented pretty often. I said, "Yeah, but it's all by me!" He sold it to me for $20 complete, I think.
What's so great is that you can play differently each time, as there are so many different squads to recruit. I'm a Druid and Demon man myself, with a few hundred Militia doing the grunt work. |

![]() An excellent game, simply speaking.
I know it only for being the father of heroes of might and magic, and finally found it here. I simply love it, very addictive. The controls are a drawback, but it becomes easier as you play it. The worst is that i am a fanatic of "clear everything" and as so i go and fight every monster then go to the next map and so on. Stupid but funny for me. And also i hate that the game is always the same, same maps, enemies on same pos, the only diferences are the buildings. |

![]() i had this game on the mega drive, and no matter how many times i completed it, i just kept coming back for more. One tip i found useful for picking up treasure chest etc with out the danger was to fly around. you must have only flying units in your army to do this( except sprites as they are too small). Also one of the only ways i could think of to beat the last boss was to give all the money i found away to build up my moral. then pick up loads of instant army spells for a 1000 each. that way you can get a really large army for text to nothing just before you go into battle.

![]() I started playing this since 1993 on an Apple II. A couple years later I picked it up for my Mac and have been playing it since. just moving it from one mac to the next.
What all have been saying about strategies for this game is great. I figured it out a long time ago, that a player can beat impossible in as many days as it takes them to find the town that sells the stop time and town gate spells. I got lucky once and stop time was in the first town. I beat the game in 5 days. And as one player had stated earlier yes Knight is the hardest to play and sorceress is the easiest just with the fact that you have the ability to buy and cast spells. the finial battles with dragons, demons and vampires. The had forgotten to mention one very powerfull piece, the Knight, a horde of knights with a teleport spell can take out a very nice sized pack of dragons, and be within reach the second round for the next pack of dragons. and even if they come up against alot of demons they can still do a lot of damage it half their ranks. I will be honest i have even went to the extent (using Excel) of making a spread sheet grid that lists the towns and spells and i just have to put an x to make which town has which spell. I also did that for the castles and villians. (Oh yeah and I also mapped out all 4 contintents with colored squares for terrain.) (side note excel is a over thinkers best friend.) There are also other ways of playing the game and really getting your armies up. Raise control lasts for one week. cast that on our self and then instant army. and this can be done many times over. I have to stop. I babble too much. But this game really is designed to make a player think, solve puzzles, manage time, money, and man power. and can do this in one afternoon or over the course of a couple days. |

![]() My army was 40 dragons, 360 archmages, 181 Demons, 240 Knights, 454 Calvary. o followers killed. I killed the demons with my archmage, then froze the vampire and killed it with my second archmage hit. Got lucky on my demon attack and halved the 104 dragons. Then attacked with my knights, Calvary and dragons taken no damage for second, third, and forth attacks. Continued using resurrection on my demon, while attacking the big dragon unit. Once he was dead, I had no one attack the last two dragon units, kept my demons near the two while using resurrection. I left the battle with 0 followers killed. The key is using the resurrection spell. Good luck, guess you posted this 9 years ago.

The trick is to do it with the Sorceress. You can get up to the last two villains without losing any followers without too much difficulty, but you can't beat them straight up without losing dudes...unless you retreat a billion times. Here's how: For this to work, you need to make relentless use of the Instant Army spell. With the sorceress, Instant Army gives you Druids once you get promoted to the highest level, but Druids can't shoot dragons, so you don't want that. Instead, you have to avoid being promoted for it to work; at the second-highest level, Instant Army gives the sorceress elves. So...you enter Arech's castle with several thousand elves (via Instant Army and Raise Control) as well as one sprite. The elves take one shot, killing some chunk of dragons (most I got was 19), and then on the sprite's turn, you Give Up; this way, the dragons don't get a turn and a chance to tear your elves apart. Sad music plays, you lose all your troops and your siege engines...but your score doesn't suffer and you don't lose any followers. Buy another siege engine, one more sprite, and a ton of instant army spells, and do it again...and slowly, you kill all the dragons without losing anyone (Arech's castle doesn't get repopulated after your retreat). And voila...perfect score of 52400. |

![]() [quote=Kümmel;186419]Hey people! Anybody out there to beat my high score
51960 points with but 110 followers killed (2 dragons died against Urthrax, 108 demons, giants and dragons died against Arech. Sorceress, impossible difficulty) I reckon 52400 would be the theoretical maximum score but it seems to be impossible to beat the last two villains without suffering casualities.] Challenge accaepted and met! I offer 52332 with 17 followers killed. I reckon one might even whittle that down to as little as 2 (two) followers killed. Goes like this: You need a town with Raise Control for the gig. And a sorceress. Once she is a Mage and you have plundered all of the 4 continents (including all villains but Arech himself) have yourself e.g. 1 sprite, 1 barbarian, 1 nomad and store them in a castle you already conquered. Then instant army a huge elven troop of not much less than 6500 elves. Get promoted to Archmage. Then have yourself 65000 Leadership using Raise Control spells. Abuse instant army and clone to get around 900 druids and say 400 archmages as well as 1 dwarf. Take these 3 Troops to Arech's castle. Have the dwarfs wait and obliterate the vampires and the demons. During the dwarf's move forfeit the battle. Now grab the elves, token sprite, barbarian, and nomad and again abuse the clone spell in order to get as ridiculously awesome a number of giants as you can afford. Again attack Arech in his castle. The tokens move in. The giants obliterate the first smaller dragon stack. (Well, I wasted some money during my run and the giants left 2 dragons over which in the end ruined my score to said 52332, since the large dragon group got a whack on the giants -- even though I resurrected them right away they counted as dead! Still I think the principle of this way of play is proven) The elves obliterate the second smaller dragon stack. A token troop gets eaten. Elves and giants have at the lot of dragons. Another token gets eaten. Elves and giants obliterate the large dragon stack. You might accuse me of playing munchkin style here, still I truly believe that this strategy might bring a patient player up to 52392 points -- potentially leaving still room for improvement! Any ideas? |
