![]() Just started looking into DOSBox because I was looking at downloading, and playing, Fallout. Of course, I haven't had all the much experience with this program, first time ever hearing of it. The tutorial is amazingly helpful in many manners. I did it the simple way, did everything the same as the tutorial said to, so there were no big problems. But when I went to go mount my HDD (c: drive) as it said I should (going into the config notepad file and mounting it), I did everything as I should have, with the change of the CD drive from d: to e:, and then saved. Then I opened and started up DOSBox, and it still started at the z: drive. So I went back and double checked if everything was right, and it was exactly the same. Don't know if the problem is with my computer or the program. The next thing I am going to do, if I don't get a reply to this, is go back and re-download the whole file. BTW, I am sorry if there are 16 other threads with the same topic, but I didn't want to go looking through the whole thing looking for them. Help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

![]() well, mounting and everything else you can do from dosbox itself, the things you wrote in the "notepad file" in autoconfig are just automatically run in dosbox right after it's start.
anyways, when it starts at Z: drive it doesn't mean that your drive is not mounted, you need to switch to the C: drive in order to er.. switch to it. so just type c: to get onto the c drive in any case, fallout is windows game, dosbox is dos emulator, you won't run fallout in dosbox..

![]() I have tried to switch to C drive by typing that command, but it says "Drive C does not exist! You must mount it first. Type intro or intro mount for more information." Also, I have downloaded Fallout from a site that states I need to download DOSBox in order to run it. So that is what I am attempting to do. I have the Fallout game file downloaded and just sitting there in WinRAR Archive.

![]() well if you think so.. in any case, which directory do you want to mount as your virtual drive?
what are the commands you typed in autoexec in dosbox.conf?

![]() mount C C:\DOS\CDrive mount D E:\ -t cdrom C: Try this, get rid of that CLS and you'll see what's wrong. My guess: C:\dos\cdrive has a typo or so , check your folder path whilst in Windows to see if it's 100% correct. And mount your CDdrive as D: in dosbox, always better.
