279$ is about two times more than I'd be willing to pay as a max for a new gen console... Plus, I'm really not thrilled about the Wii new controler. What's wrong with the plain old controlers? <_<

It is by far the cheapest of the next gen offerings, and to be against the new controller is kind of anti-progressive. Besides, you can plug a GC controller into it, or the Wii classic controller:

Smash Bros. was pushed back to March (I think), 2007.

This morning some details regarding the much-talked-about "virtual console" element of the Nintendo Wii were announced. Wii owners will indeed be able to purchase and download an assortment of NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64 titles onto their Wiis.

Online transactions will use a Wii Points system similar to Microsoft Points. NES titles will cost 500 Wii Points, SNES titles 800 Wii Points, and N64 games 1,000 Wii Points.

Points are to be available at a cost of $20 for 2,000, making the exchange rate exactly $1 to 100 Wii Points. That makes NES games $5, SNES games $8, and N64 games $10.

There will be 30 titles available when the Wii launches, and 10 will be added every month starting next year.[/b]
