Since about a week ago our newspaper decided to publish a daily Sudoko. This is apprantly a Japansese puzzle with numbers:

Check this if you don't know what they are...

I find them highly addictive. Can anyone relate to this???

I just found this website that features Soduko's. Try one out and tell me if you liked it!

's SUDOKU or even Su Doku. My sister likes them. Some of the ones you see in the paper (particularly tabloids) aren't proper ones though, because they have multiple solutions.

You're absolutetly right :P

They just use a computer tool to generate them, so if the algorithm is okay, it shouldn't produce ones with multiple solutions I guess...

Since they appeared I've been rushing to work a lot ;P

Maths is not really involved at all. It's just putting stuff in the right place. They are well and truly hard.

This is true, the numbers are not numbers. They are symbols, it would work just as well with letters or little pictures. As PSucks said, they don't test arithmatic, but logical reasoning and deduction.

Logic and maths aren't completely unrelated, though, are they? That's why you can study Maths and Philosophy.

That's why I said arithmetic, not maths. Logic is a necessary skill for most of the more compliticated kinds of maths.

Oops, sorry RHavell, you're right. It was Prejudice who said maths wasn't involved at all. Well, never mind.
