Default Vista Sound issues

Ok, so I've succeeded in playing several games from this site with DosBox, but out of the 4 or 5 i've played, 2 don't have sound. Syndicate and Reunion. I tried getting VDMsound, but haven't had luck getting it to run with vista.

Can anyone give me some pointers on what to try?

Syndicate: Try editing the "synd.bat" file to match your sound configuration in dosbox.
Reunion: Try running the "setup.exe" and select the matching configuration.

In Dosbox you can see your sound configuration with "set" command.

I tried editing the synd.bat file.

This is what was in it:

main.exe >nul: /iirq5 /idma1 /iio$220 /c0

my "set" command gave:

PATH=Z:\
COMSPEC=Z:\COMMAND.COM
BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 T6
ULTRASND=240,3,3,5,5
ULTRADIR=C:\ULTRASND

not sure what to change. don't know much about altering .bat files.

You'll have to edit the /iirq5 to /iirq7 in the synd.bat file, normal notepad will do.

That's the thing I feared - with Vista replacing XP, VDMSound is getting thrown out and DOSBox is getting more and more used. Except a lot of the older games aren't set up to work with the default DOSBox settings.

Hmm annoying that there's no setup program.

Try this:

main /c0 /iirq7 /idma1 /iio220

Also, I'll upload the CD version of Syndicate Plus on the site. This will let the game auto-detect the settings AND it has the American Revolt addon.

No luck with that either. Syndicate Plus sounds great though. I look forward to it.
