Hello. I have a problem with StarCraft. I asked many of my nations good players and they couldn't salve it so I thought maybe someone here can.

So, ... I have dsl connection 512 kbps. When I play SC I never have latency and never lag. I can normally join games and play them without any problems.
But, ... when I create a game, noone can join it. The server says I have a too high latency, which I doubt. My firewall is some PC Cillin. The Windows one is not on. I tryed creating a game without the firewall, but the problem remains.

Please help if you can.

Try using Hamachi, which simulates LAN over internet...

I don't think I need that. It probably wont work, someone told me it has something to do with the router. I'm not much into that. :help:

you have to redirect the trafic on specific port (the one your game uses) to your computer (the server). Consult the manual of your router.

I have the exact same problem. Never been able to play Starcraft with this computer.

I'm pretty sure it's because I need to open a port in my Windows machine... But how the hell you do that? I searched dozans of websites but never found out how. And I don't have a router: I have a cable modem.

After several days, I simply gave up.

To open ports in Windows XP you need to go to Firewall settings and select Exceptions tab... in there you create a udp and a tcp exception listing the port you want to open

Well I use Windows XP SP2, so it will be a bit different for SP1 I think, but here are some screenshots to show the process:

Go into Security Center

Go into Windows Firewall

In the options screen go to Exceptions

Click on Add port to specify the port you want open in windows

Give the port opening a name and the port number... and finally select TCP or UDP (can't remember the difference) you should get both TCP and UDP added to ensure effectiveness.

And finally you open the port on your router or cablemodem(not sure if there is an option for that on modems, don't use them)

Hope this helps a bit, but it's worked for me in most circumstances.

I don't either recognize or aknowledge the screens you just posted. I have SP1 and installing SP2 for me would be the same than touching a plague infected person with a 20 feet pole.

I do recognize the TCP/UDP screen. Tryied that already, never worked.
