For the Kyrandia games you have to make sure you've got plenty of conventional dos memory. You need to set up your config sig and auto-exe bat so that everything is loaded high so that plenty of that dos memory remains. If you can temporarily remove any of the resident programs that might be using this memory that will help too. I'm not sure if this applies to Kyrandia 3 as well, but when I set up the config sig for Kryandia 1, I had to put NOEMS after the emm386.exe entry. Well, this applies to my system which is WIN98. I'm not sure if it is relevant for XP as well.
