I want to compose/write music for (for now) short films. I do not have any knowledge that would help me write such. Is there a simple to use program that does not require you to have studied music, to create music? Preferably free or low cost but I am open to suggestions.

Basically you want to put notes together, but have no idea on how to do it?

You could try reading a music book and learn about it.

I think there's a demo version of Fruity Loops. You dont need to be able to play or score music to compose with loops that you can make yourself or find free around the net. There's also Fruity Tracks which enables you to take your compositons to another level. I can't play piano, but I can write music and I use Sonar to input whole orchestra scores. I use Fruity Loops for professional percussion sounds, not just boring drum sounds, although you can do a complete song using Fruity Loops alone. Another popular loop program is Acid. There's also a demo version available on Acid Planet.

Keep in mind they are more dancy..

I rented a game called "Music 2000" and you just plonk riffs together and you have a song!

We don't encourage the use of cracks and stuff. Don't hint about warez.

Ejay is all sorts of music, from rock to dance to hip-hop and so on. :)

I'd probably recommend FruityLoops, it's very simple and works for both beginners and more advanced users

Ejay is very rubbish
