I was just wondering if any of you guys know on what OS are abandomware games playable. Is Windows XP better or worse than Win 98 to play abandomed..?
Can they be played on Linux?? Is there any diference when playing them on MAC?

Plz answer.. :help:

DOSBOx has been ported to both Linux and MacOS. The games you play with it look and feel the same on each platform.
Macintosh Garden is a site with MAC-only abandonware. There's bound to be some Mac-emulators to play these games on Linux and XP as well.
As for Linux abandonware: Since commercial games for Linux have only been on sale for the last couple of years I doubt you'd find anything. The Linux community is however very good at creating remakes, ports and free version of most cool games, such as Abuse and Doom

On Linux you could try Wine, though I doubt it would work too well (From what I remember, it can take 45 seconds to load NotePad).

Wine is used to run proprietary Windows software, not necessarily abandonware. If you're old DOS game doesn't run in Windows, forget about Wine as well. Use DOSBox or DOSemu for that!

Moved since this have absolutly nothing to do with troubleshooting.

*cough* developed for *cough*

It also runs slightly faster on most Linux systems than under XP.

You are better to use Win98, with some old hardware then winxp, as win98 is based on DOS7, while XP has only emulation for DOS.
