Hi there,

would it be possible to generate an update form which allowes you to fill in update-information for a couple of days ahead ?

I am thinking of a large form with the weekdays in it. You'd (e.g.) have

Monday 26.10.05
News: bla
Link: http://bla
Picture: bla.png

Tuesday27.10.05
News:...
Link:...
Picture:...

Thursday26.10.05
News:...

Then the updaters would only need to do it once a week and can concentrate on translation, the forum, etc. the other days.

A script would publish the scheduled updates then every day.

I think this would help a lot but I do not know if someone here is able to generate such an update form. (php or whatever)

Let me know what you think about it ...

the update procceeder change is a good idea

Huh?

How does that work? All updates are more or less done the same day they appear on the site. It's very rare that the updaters actually know what game they are putting up each day.

This is a usual day in the Updater Forum:

Reup: Seb, I'll update on monday with Quake 3. I am also free on wednesday, thursday and saturday. Could you do the other days? I might be able to squeeze in an update on sunday, but I can't promise anything.
Seb: Don't worry about it, I can do the other days (including Sunday).
Reup: Wonderful.

As you can see only a single game has been called by name for an entire week. The normal procedure is to wait to either the day before or the same day, pick a game from the Completely Ready folder on the server, look over everything, and then throw it up on the site when it's time. The next day the other updater can easily see which game was added, and pick another game from the Completely Ready folder. And so the days go...

mybe it's not that useful for the updates of the English site but I think it would a very interesting idea for the translators. You write seven translations, put them in the schedule and you'Re done for one week ...

isn't that kinda what they do anyway? Well, not the schedule part, but mass translate stuff and then just dump it into a folder for an updater to upload?

Nope, we upload translations on our own, and everything what goes with it (such as news pictures).
